Internatinal mother tounge

International Mother Language

I think it is important to know and speak and write and read in your mother language because that is the language that you are best at. Also it will make it easy to talk and understand a language at your home. It will be easy to learn to do more things if you have a mother language like you can read more books.
Having a strong mother language is important because than you can speak in it at your home and read books.
It is important to know other languages because if you travel to lots of places you need to be able to talk to other people to do important things like buying food and water.

I think that learning your own mother tongue is important because if someone come and ask you what is your mother tongue you not going to know what is your mother tongue. When you go back to your country you can’t speak to anyone and when you go to school you can’t understand what your teacher want you to do.If your mother tongue is so strong you can translate it for somebody else in another country.

I think its important to learn your mother tongue because mother tongue you can read and write in your language and you can speak with your family and relatives in your own language. I also think its important because when you're grown up, in your work you need write in your language, you need to read in your language and you need to speak in your language so if you learn it from your childhood it will be easy for you when you are a grown up. That's the reasons you should know your mother tongue.

It is important know your mother tongue because then we can learn to read, write and speak it so we can talk in it with your family. I think it is good to have a language to speak because it is fun and it will get easier.

I think it is good to learn another language because then we can teach other people how to speak it and we can learn to write, speak and read in it.  It is also important to learn to write your name in your language and write some sentences. You can also speak the language to other people who don't know English or any other language and you should learn to try to speak your mother tongue when you are born.

I think having a mother tongue is fun because it is easier to talk to people. It is important to have your mother tongue because you can understand your language and you can write it. Having a strong mother tongue is important so you can understand it when you are spoken in your own families and you can write your own mother tongue. It is important because you could learn and speak it with your families and with many people who live in your country. It is also important to know your language so you can write your name and write things. You learn your mother tongue in school so you can understand.

International mother language day

It is important to have a mother tongue because if you don't know how to write or read it, you can not read the newspaper and the books. most newspapers are in your mother language. It is also important to know how to read and write your language otherwise you will have no identity. If you want to write something you can write in your mother language so you don’t need to translate it. Your relative might not know how to speak english and you don’t know how to write your mother language, you will be embarrassed and your relative will wonder
“ Why won’t he/she write?”
You need to learn your mother tongue so that if your friend ask you how to write in your mother language you won’t will be embarrassed because you know how.
If you can not read your mother tongue you can not read any posters, maps and documents. If you are making a passport and they ask you to do something but it is you mother tongue and you don’t know how to read it, you can’t get a passport.

My Minecraft Reflection

My Minecraft Reflection

Before I started Making Angkor Wat in Minecraft I thought it would be easy because I tried making it with modeling clay and it was pretty easy and I did the modeling clay with a group. I thought that we just had to make three towers, one wall, some trees and a little bit of water around it, but when  I tried we had to make three walls, four towers, a lot of water all around it and a big forest around it and I realized that  it would take three weeks when I thought it would take us one week.

Also we had A big group, My group was the tower group we made the four towers and when I did the modeling clay I only had four people in my group but in Minecraft I had 7 people Me, Lyka, Panhaboth, Shaqui, Otis, Tommy and Sak. For me the collaboration was pretty hard because some people didn’t talk and broke the things I made, so after that I went and helped with the moat and then came back, Collaboration didn’t because everybody didn’t talk and when the did something they didn’t want they shouted. But it was easier working in a group because many  people could do different jobs and we would go faster.

We mostly used cobblestone and mossy stone and to give it texture we put vines, torches and cracked blocks. We used those because some of us had been there and we thought it would look like the real material that they used in Angkor Wat, we also wanted it to look old also because when you go to Angkor Wat it looks all burnt down. We also put rocks everywhere so it looked like there was a temple there that was broken.

Something that was successful was the moat because it had lilies and when I went to Angkor Wat I saw lilies everywhere, also the trees because there is a lot of tall viney trees and because it was all around the temple it looked like a forest and thats what it was supposed to be like, we made the trees grow fast by putting bone meal on them. Also the middle tower looked great with the vines, moss and glowstone.

Some things that were not successful were the other towers because were made three towers in a line but then we had to destroy them and make four on the corners, also the temple in the back it looked like a block but then they made a tree in the middle and it looked like a more interesting shape then.

Next time I would work more  on how to make it brighter in the night time and fill in the moat in more, I also would work on working together because if we did we would finish faster.

I think learning different languages is important  because if i have one language and someone has a different language than me and they are my friends/family  which means i need to communicate with them so i need to learn different languages to talk/communicate with them and for them to know my langues so we both can communicate. I also need to know what my family speak and for them to understand me. I need to also speak with teachers at school so i need to learn mother tongue for that.

Mother Language

Mother Language
Having a mother language is important because then you have a unique language you can speak with your family, or if you don’t want anyone to know what you're saying you can say it in your mother language. Its also important because its about you and it shows who you are. Also because maybe you can’t read a poster or book or spell some words while everyone else knows how to.

Having a strong Mother Language is important because then in the future you learn more and you can learn different languages, also because maybe you forget your language and that is sad because when you go to your home country you can’t speak to your relatives. If you dont know how to read you won't get your passport.

Estela
International mother language day

I think that learning mother tongue is important because mother tongue is your own language and when you go to your own country you need to speak your mother tongue when you go to your own country.
You also need to know your mother tongue because you will also need to speak with your parents and relatives because if you don’t know how to speak or write your mother tongue, your relatives will not know what you are talking about because you do not know your mother tongue.
If you don’t know how to write your name that is a problem too. It is a problem because you might get a test in your country and it will be in your mother tongue, you will get all of the questions all incorrect.
If you also have a strong mother tongue language it will be easier to learn other languages because you have already learned your languages in your brain.

Tommy

International mother tongue

International Mother Language
I think it is important to have a strong mother tongue so you can learn and write the language that you speak so you can communicate with other people from your country. I think if you don’t have a mother tongue it will be difficult to read and write or to communicate with your friends and family. It is important for us to learn our mother tongue because if you go to a different country to see someone or for holidays you won't be able to ask what street is this or that.
It is important to have a mother tongue so you can learn at school or if your have no money you’ll ask for money but if you don’t know you won’t be able to get money.
If you don't know you won’t be able to read the news and information like if the country that have attack they will ask you to run but if you don’t know your mother you don’t get what people are trying to tell you.
If you don’t have a mother tongue you won’t have a identity because you don’t know words.
It is important to have a strong mother tongue so you can translate to people and you can learn another language and it can be much easier when you go out of your country.

Mr Bill the guest speaker

Mr.Bill The Guest Speaker

Mr.Bill the guest speaker came and talked to us about the Khmer Rouge trials. The Khmer Rouge opinion was terrible and when the Khmer Rouge came 4 or 5 hour the Khmer Rouge let the Cambodians to be a farmer.
The Khmer Rouge told the people to make a dam the old woman and the old man even the woman.
The teacher and doctor were killed or the teacher and  the doctor had to keep it secret and if some one tell about the teacher and the doctor they will get killed.
The Khmer Rouge was one of the worst times in Cambodia.

When the Khmer Rouge first came people thought they would save them. When the Khmer Rouge people get the people away some of the people hide from the Khmer Rouge and when the Khmer Rouge is far away some of the people came out when they were hiding.
The Khmer Rouge is mean and rude.
The Khmer Rouge did it for three year almost to four year.
The master of the Khmer Rouge said I miss Khmer Rouge when the Khmer Rouge ended and he said he wanted to do it again.
Some people are evil and like Pol Pot.
All of the people need to wear black shirts and Black pants.
People get half spoon of porridge only.
Many films, documents and videos were left in many houses. This has been used as evidence to put the Khmer rouge in jail.
Why is the Khmer Rouge so mean and rude?

Why Chinese people help the Khmer Rouge?

How do some people think that Pol Pot was good?

Why do people need to wear black pant and black shirt?

I was amaze that old woman and old man also help to build the dam.

Mr. Bill visit

Mr. Bill visit

The Khmer Rouge people was very unfair their goal was to make the country equal but they did not make it equal because they are above the rest while they are treating people like animals. The Khmer Rouge called themselves the Angkar. They said money was not useful to people. A journalist found Dolic which killed all the people that Pol Pot told him to kill, the judge said that he would be in prison for 20yr+  but he wanted to say sorry to the victims family and didn't wanted to be in prison so he explained what happened in Khmer Rouge.
The Khmer Rouge imprisoned all the people and they were not free to go back to the cities. When the Khmer Rouge came from the war people think ' Thank God, war is over'
Pol Pot think that he can only use his opinion and he should not accept other people opinion.
Kid which are about 2 year old need to look after babies and if the baby cries and the soldiers hear it, the kid will get killed. When the Khmer Rouge people came Journalists like Elizabeth took pictures and videos to keep as evidence. Their evidence for the trial is Pol Pot orders, videos, newspaper, documentary and eye witnesses.

We were amazed by how all the evidence was still here and was not burnt.
We were amazed by how much time it took for the Khmer Rouge to get rid of.
We were amazed because Pol Pot is punishing Cambodians even though he is one of them.

How did they take the video evidence?
If they didn't want to be discovered, why did they even take the video?
Why did the person who was forced to work miss Pol Pot?
Why didn't Unicef help the kids?
How were they tortured?
What orders did Pol Pot give to the people?

By Lyka, SeoYoung and Hyein

Guest speaker - Mr Bill

On Friday we had a guest speaker who name was Mr Bill who is a prosecutor vs Khmer Rouge. I think he was interesting because the video from the past showed that there was no people in the city because the Khmer Rouge made them walk to the Province to plant rice. The kids had to be away from their family to work very hard and they did not get much to eat. If they don't do work they kill them.
I want to know why did the Khmer Rouge killed so many Cambodians.

By Keith

Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge

The Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge.
Pol Pot did mean things to Cambodia. Some people had to walk for two days because the Khmer Rouge told them and if they don't they would be killed.
If you had a education you can not tell the Khmer Rouge because they will kill you. In Khmer Rouge period millions of people died. The Khmer Rouge was unhappy when the French people ruled them. The rich people had  work and the poor people did not have have work or they worked as farmers.
We learned knowing the truth is really important because sometimes people tell the lie. We learned that we need to know the history and understand it. The Khmer Rouge said it's going to be equal but that was just a big lie. We learnt that evidence from the past help us to understand the history.
We learnt that in Cambodia 200 schools were turned into prisons.
We were amazed that 200 schools were turned into prisons. We were amazed that there were no money in the Khmer Rouge time because the Khmer Rouge  didn't care about money. We were amazed that some people didn't tell the truth they told the lie.

Why were 200 schools turned into prisons ?
Why did the Cambodian people do it to Cambodian people ?
Why did it take four years to get rid of them ?
Why did it happen ?
How did the Khmer Rouge made it happen ?
Why did they kill the educational people ?

Our Reflection On Mr.Bills Visit

Our Reflection On Mr.Bills Visit

We thought that it was really special that Mr. Bill came to visit because not many people  get to see the videos that Mr. Bill showed us and because not many young people know about Pol Pot and what happened.

We learnt that when people didn't know what the Khmer Rouge would do to them they were so happy that the war was over and that the Khmer Rouge would take care of them. We also learnt Mr.Bills job was to find the truth of Khmer Rouge so it didn't happen again, some people hid from the Khmer Rouge and didn't leave Phnom Penh but the kids were alone and homeless. And that the Khmer Rouge took videos, pictures, docs and commands and they didn't burn those things for people not to know about Khmer Rouge, because they thought pol pot would last for ever.We learnt that in Cambodia there was 200 jails.

What amazed us was that they didn't burn the evidence and Khmer Rouge was so stronger than the Cambodian army. Also the Khmer Rouge killed everybody who was intelligent like teachers, doctors or people who were really smart.

Why did Khmer Rouge start?
Who started the Khmer Rouge?
Why did the Khmer Rouge video what they did if they did not want anyone to know about it?
If people were made to be farmers why did some of them become film makers and video what was happening?

By : Estela & Maya
What happened in the Khmer Rouge
We thought people would starve because you don't get a lot of food and sleep and you have to over work or else they will kill you.
We thought the Khmer Rouge was a terrible period because they won't take care of you even if you're sick. The evidence from death was about 10,000 skulls from people that had been torchered.
Schools turned into torture chambers.
The evidence was taken by people on cameras, the Khmer Rouge wanted to get rid of it but they didn’t.
The Khmer Rouge survived in the North west of Cambodia for another 20 years. The Vietnamese came and helped us fight the Khmer rouge. That day it was the end of Khmer Rouge.

We was amazed that the Khmer Rouge left evidence in the village that the people worked in the Khmer Rouge. We was amazed that the Khmer Rouge was strong and mean.
We were amazed that the Khmer rouge fought their own
people.

Why would the Khmer Rouge torture their own people?
Why would the Khmer Rouge keep the evidence buried?
Why didn’t they get rid of the evidence that people took on cameras?
Why did the kids have to take care of babies?
Why would the Khmer Rouge pick who you are going to marry?
Why did China help the Khmer Rouge?

Visit to Bophana Centre Phnom Penh

Visit to the Bophana Centre
We watched a movie that was about the past in 1965 we watched it in Bophana centre.
We thought that when we are watching the film/movie we thought that it was going to be a story when it was Pol Pot time. We thought that centre only had movies and films about Pol Pot
Sak thought that for along time ago they had motors but they didn't have motors when it was the past because the photos have motors and when we watched the film there were very few motors.

What has changed was that they have different microphones now they have only one head microphone, but in the past when King Sihanoukville was alive they have microphones that has three head and. On the street they were selling vegetables, fruits that are the same. There was not a lot of poor people and in Cambodia now we have a lot of poor people.

When they showed Angkor Wat on the film we were amazed at how few people there were at the temples. Today many visitors go to see the temples.
In the schools they had blackboards and everyone sat by themselves at a desk. They had good schools and teachers in those days. It looked like to us that the schools in 1965 were better than some of the schools we have today in Cambodia. The uniforms have changed. Now they children wear black or blue and before they wore red or pink. In 1965 they had more equipment in the school.

We was amazed by it is so clean and now it is very dirty. There was not a lot of rubbish then now there are is a lot of  rubbish on the streets.

Visit To The Bophana Centre Phnom Penh

We watched a film today at the Bophana Centre Phnom Penh. These are some of the things we saw.
There were more Monks. That amazed us because there were so many of them and it almost looked like everyone  was wearing orange. It is the same because there are still monks. The monks is on the street.
They have not so much people going to Angkor Wat because The transportation is long I'm amazed that there is not so much people in Angkor Wat.
The Hospital is clean. That amazed us because most the hospitals are not so clean. That is the same because there are still hospitals.
Not so much airplane because when the war started they destroy  some of the airplane It amazed me that why there is not so much people.
Cambodia was clean because there was not as much trash. That amazed me because now Cambodia has lots of trash on the streets and in the river. That is the same because because some people recycle now.
Lots of people is good at art because they study at school. That amazed me because the are was so good. That is the same because some people are still good at art.
They have less traffic because there were less cars.
Students wear red and white uniform because now the uniform is blue and white I'm amazed because not e uniforms are white and black.
People still do science because we they have science class. I'm amazed because they had science then.
Lots of kids in the class because they don't have enough class for the student. I'm amazed because there were so many people in one class.

    Question
Why the independent monument has change?
Why when they swim they got to swim the same time?
Why not so much people come to Angkor Wat?
Why is people good at art?
Why the coconut are the same?
Why people plants corn?

We thought that there were a few in Cambodia but there were a lot of airports in the past and the classrooms were very clean. We didn't think there were smooth roads in the past.
We think there is no boats in the past but there is plenty of boats in the past. We learned that there were not a lot of people in the roads and there were not a lot of traffic in the roads, but now there are a lot of traffic in the streets now.
We thought there were not a lot of playgrounds in the past, but there were a lot of playgrounds and they were really big. Also the students that were in the school wore uniforms. The boys wore blue shorts and wore white shirts. The girls in the classroom wore pink skirts and wore white shirts just like the boys. We also did not know that Cambodia had science in secondary. We did not know that the buildings were so clean that it was so amazing. We also watched a film that was made in the 1965.We did not know that Cambodia had cars that time, but they really had cars a long time ago.

I watched a film there.
There were a lot of air ports .
They showed us Battambang, Angkor,Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, kep ,and Siem Reap.
There were not a lot of cars ,and they were different to now.
There were a lot of people in the street.
they did a lot of construction.
-\they wore school uniforms.
They had less horses for riding.
In the past Cambodia was peaceful ,and calm.
They went to school by bicycle.
I was amazed that there are still a lot of people in the street"

 Visit to the Bophana Centre

We went to a centre that had been researching about the Cambodian history. I thought first that in the centre, it would have Secondary sources and only a little of primary sources. But the film that we watched was taken in 1965. When we saw the movie, it was a Primary resource that was made in that time. The movie had a lot of same things from the time of now. The things that were same was that they had agriculture, they had the same uniforms as now.The independence monument was there and they grew rice like now. What changed was that they had a lot of airports in Battambang, Sihanouk Ville , Siem Reap, and Kampong Cham. They had no Traffic and there wasn't much motor bikes. There were not many people in Angkor Wat. The water that were there was too clean. The things that amazed me was that everything was clean and organized. When we saw the movie, the thing that amazed me the most is that the 1960s looked like 2015 and 2015 looked like the 1960s.

Visit to the Bophana center

Today I went to the Bophana center.
I thought it was a good trip because it's interesting to look at the things that happened in the past to know what changed, also because I got to learn things in the past of Cambodia and it is important because I live in Cambodia. We watched a film from 1965.

I learnt what changed and what is the same and some of the things that changed are the traffic there was less traffic, before there was red and white uniforms for school uniform, girls had short hair normally now girls have long hair, there was three microphones for one person. It was cleaner before but now on the roads there is a lot of trash, and the cars were different because they were different shapes and sizes. Some things that were the same where science now we still do science, dams to make electricity but they didn't have that much of them, ambulances we still use ambulances to go to the hospital if it is an emergency, buddha's walk everywhere and it's the same, we almost eat the same food as before, we still play football like before, jump ropes, tug of war and they did water festival before also.

Some things that amazed us is so much people use science that amazed us because we thought they didn't have science before, also how clean it was before because now so much people throw rubbish on the ground, and they had dams before and I wonder if that was for electricity.

Bophana centre visit

Visit To The Bophana Centre

We went to Bophana Centre and we watched a film from 1965.
I thought it was a great trip because it was really interesting about the past and we had a film to watch so I thought it was really fun to watch a film and also to learn. The first movie was in French but the second one was in Khmer.

In the film we saw the classroom and we made connection to our old field trip to the local school. There were playgrounds in the school and in the classroom the seats were a pattern of boy, girl, boy, girl. They used a black board and we still have them now. The Olympic stadium is still the same but now some places is made  out of concrete and now they have supermarket and other building.
In the past they also have bikes and now we have bikes but not lots of people ride them now. In traditional dances they wear fancy clothes to dance and wear jewelry and a crown to dance also play traditional music and they still have it nowadays.
Angkor Wat was already found in 1965 and now it is a attractive place for visitors to know about the past. In 1965 there were ships and you needed to go to the port, the ships are use for traveling and also carrying things too. In the past they used the same material to build house like hammer, nails, and etc. In the past hotel were not really tall and expensive but they got a swimming pool and good service but not much people can stay inside because there isn't a lot of room and space. Last 70 years the year played the same games like us nowadays to have fun, in school and outside school. In school they teach kids how to paint and yes, they have painting equipment such as paint brush, paint and etc. In the past people had machines and formula to make chemicals and other things.

The cars are different last time the car was curved and look like a cloud but now they have bigger cars and stronger ones. When it was the opening ceremony for the Olympic stadium they play music and cheer but now we only cut the red rope and then we are done. Student are different now because they can wear anything and last time they needed to wear a uniform which look like a soldier one.

We was amazed by how the past was better than the 2015 because now we are more rich and wealthy but we are not showing it and our city does not look wealthy.

Time traveling and dreaming
Crack! boom! Aw my head hurts hello can any one hear me all my thing are down heres my chair.  I need to sit on it. What's burning aw oh I just realized I'm in a cave. What's behind me? Visit to the Bophana Centre
I saw in the Bophana Centre what is changed, the same and different. The different is that it is clean and they still dance the same and the same thing is that the school has changed and there uniform.

The same thing is that they do since in 1965 and the cars have changed because some of them you need to push and it will turn on.

The toys have changed because it was made of wood then plastic and in school the boys has to sit next to a girl because then the boys will talk and the girls. The same thing is that they built wood sculptures.

They still have airports and the planes look different and there's is no flag on the river side and the river has changed by clean water to dirty water and it was caused by people throwing rubbish in there.

The change is that they didn't have computer games and plant has changed by more plants to a little plants and they didn't have many motorbikes or cars and not that many people in the angkorwat temple.

Why do they have more cars than motorbike how did they since why was there more trees in the past and not that many now?

We saw a film which was made in 1965. Now in royal palace there are lots of  people and their cars. Before they had no traffic and now they do. They use to have different cars from ours. There was only big cameras in the past and now there is small cameras everywhere. The hospitals and the houses were different from now.  The dancing in Cambodia  is still the same now.
Now we have lots of roads but not in the past. The colour of angkor wat has changed over time. They showed us some photos which is really old. Phnom Penh has changed a lot. Before there was more parks for childrens.
Before they did not have any skyscrapers but now there are so many of them. We wonder why there were no skyscrapers? Before they used to have four airports but know there are only three airports in Cambodia.
We wonder why the king kept old photos?

My visit to the Bophana center Phnom Penh

Visit to Bophana Centre
Today I went to the Bophana  center and watched a video from 1965.
There was not so much traffic in Cambodia. There was lots of people when the Olympic stadium opened. Cambodia was very clean not like now. They also had electric vehicles.
The schools had red and white uniforms for school in elementary but in secondary they do more advanced things like science and harder questions in class. There are lots of airports in Cambodia so they could get to place to place but there are less planes and airports now in Cambodia.
There are lots of videos because the king liked making videos and there was lots of buildings in the videos with cars and less moto's and cyclos were mainly used but when the king comes it's like helicopters and cars if there are ceremonies and openings that's when the king comes. There was not so many people in the streets like now. They also had non electric vehicles like bicycles and the doctors did have electricity but the machines where different. It amazed me that it had lots of space like an open area to walk in and play in.
How did they take the video when it was from 1965?

Visit to the Bophana Centre Phnom Penh

Today we watched a film at the Bophana centre that was about Cambodia in 1965.
The thing that was change is that we don't wear uniform to school.
They wrote on a black board and the park was different because they had many things to play on.
The streets was different because they had no traffic lights.
There was not many cars and motor bikes.
The street was nice and clean and there was no rubbish.
There was more airports.
The pagodas were the same and so was the independent monument.
The food looked the same and they were planting rice the same as today.
The science was different and they made lots of stuff at school.
There are wearing white shirts and red skirts that are different and now they are wearing blue skirts and white shirts.
We think  from bophana was a really different place that people do cool stuff.
We were amazed that the film came from so long ago.

We watched a little movie about Cambodia in 1965.
I think the film was beautiful. I learnt that they used many machines to make big roads and houses.
I learnt that there were many airports. You could fly to Battambang but you can not do that today. They had trains, cars and lots of bicycles. Today they have many cars and motorbikes. The trains don't go very fast today and there are not many of them.
The streets were in the film very clean but today they are not. You could cross the road easily because there was not much traffic. The types of cars were different to today.

In the schools the uniform was red and white and today it is blue and white. In the secondary school they had lots of electric things for science teaching.
The re were lots of playgrounds for children to play in.

The music and dancing was the same and the food that people could buy and eat.

I was amazed at how they could build those big roads in those days. They had the machines and I did not think they had them.

The mystery of the diamond stone

This story was inspired by this unit.

The Mystery of the diamonds stone
“Ahhhhh!” I shouted when I thought something is sticking in my foot. I looked at my right foot. My shoe was gone! “My shoe isn't here.” I Shouted as loud as I could. I looked at the stranger. He looked like he was laughing. “Ahhhhh where am I!” I shouted.
“I got you.” Said the stranger. This time he really laughed.
Suddenly I saw a red diamond broken in millions and trillions of pieces. You can understand that he was a thief. Suddenly I saw my friends collecting the other diamonds.
“Can anyone help me?” Someone shouted. It looked like my friend.
“Who is that wanting some help. I said. The stranger shook his head and said
“Go back to work.” Stranger I thought I  looked at the bottom and started to dig and dig as fast as I could. I knew I could find something at the bottom. Suddenly I saw my shoe which was missing and I knew it really was a thief. Suddenly I saw the original diamond stone which was hidden in the mud. Then I dig side ways hoping I could call the police and after I went up ways so I could go up.
I told the police what I saw and she asked me if I could take her and I told her yes. So I took her there and showed and she put the thief in the jail and we went back to home to eat dinner at once. Without the police helped we couldn't do that.

Taking the dust  on her “we’re in a sand pit !” Estela said.
Maya said “Uh!?” and pressed a button without noticing. Help! Help! What is it? and took the dust off her. There was a big hole. They took the artefact. Maya said “ What is that? ”
“ It is a roman coin.” Estela said
“ A ROMAN COIN!” Maya said “LET ME SEE! LET ME SEE!”  and Maya saw it and said
“Who is on the coin” Estela said
“An important person from along time ago  I guess?”
“But who?”
“How should I know?”Estela said
“ Well because you're really  smart.”
I think it is the king of the Romans.” Estela said
“ Good thinking you are really smart.” Maya said.
 Hello the coin said
“Apparently the coin can talk” Maya said.

The Past of Gold

This is a story I wrote that was inspired by this unit of inquiry.
Otis
The Past of Gold
Bang!!! Steve woke up as Steve slowly got dressed and looked at the Saturday morning sky and noticed it was his brother Jack who was making that noise again, the same thing that wakes him up every morning. The football hits the wall of the house every morning and the banging sound wakes up Steve. He went down to the old garden his brother scoring rapid goals as his sister Bella was reading a magazine trying to get peace and quiet.  At that moment his brother hit him with a ball.  Just then he was falling and at the corner of his eye he saw a hole where he had been standing on. His brother ran to the hole.  Bella moaned. “I’m on the last page then I will come with you!”
As his brother shot down the hole and Bella lagging behind to get to him they were all scared of what they would find.  Then finally Bella got down and saw the two of them and walked over to where they were. She asks “Where are we ?”
Jack replies “I don’t know.”
They walked forward and saw gold and ran to it. But then whatever they were walking on turned and pushed them into a zooming line. As they landed on the sand they saw pyramids.
Just at the same time they found themselves inside a battle field, but it changed quickly as Ten gold bars came insight.  A portal opened right by them. Egyptian guards came running out after them and grabbed the gold bars. But then seven of the Guards fell over.  As the portal was closing they grabbed the gold and ran through the portal.  It was closing fast, could they get through in time? It was a little hole but they got into it as the hard grip on his legs faded  They stuffed their bags with the gold.

They landed back in their bedroom.  Steve said it was over but is it said an echo in his head?

The Red Crystal

This is a story I wrote that was inspired by this unit of inquiry.
The Red Crystal
It was dark in the old house. "Look at the puffy, black spider." said Maya poking a black widow spider.
Signe frowned. "I think it's dead" she said.
"Oh" said Maya. Maya was watching a geco fight with a grasshopper when it happened.
"I FOUND IT!! I FOUND IT!!" Signe yelled.
"Found what?" asked Maya running towards the place where Signe was standing. Maya touched a red crystal that was on the ground.

Boom! Crack! Vsst! "AHH" yelled Maya and Signe. It felt like they were in an elevator that broke and was going down.

Boom!  They landed in in the 1700 on a Viking ship. They hit the ground that was not the ground. "Arr garr parr jaw pow" said a male Viking.
"BURP, burk poss ga ga wee" said girl Viking. "Vikings" whispered Maya.
"Cool" said Signe. "I'm going to talk to them" Signe walked up to a Viking and said "eww some of you smell bad, take more baths. Umm okay, blah blooh ja ja." The Viking did not hear or see Signe.
"I'm invisible" said Maya. "Oh" said Signe.

"Hey" said Maya "I think that there is treasure on this boat" Maya started looking all over the boat for a chest of gold. "Why do think there's a treasure chest here?" asked Signe.
"Because Viking means pirate and pirates steal treasure. I read that in a book! " answered Maya.
"Oh, right" said Signe. They both started to look for treasure. Maya looked at the front of the boat and Signe looked at the back of the boat.

"Maya, I found a stick and below it is an arrow that is pointing down." said Signe. She pointed to a stick that was stuck in the boat.
"PULL IT!!" yelled Maya running to the stick. Signe pulled it down. There it was.........
A.......BLANKET! Signe frowned
"A blanket?" Maya asked. Signe pulled the the blanket out.

"Aggvv engebie" a Viking said. The Viking walked towards the place where Signe and Maya were standing. "Can I swim out of the way?" Asked Maya as she dived into the water. Signe followed her.

Two days later Maya and Signe found land. They climbed onto the land. "Wait, Signe, that looks like a pot that the Vikings left. Let's take it home with us." said Maya as she went to pick it up, she heard a big Boom!

They were back at the old house again.
